Verizon’s Data Breach Investigations Report is one of the most comprehensive, and longest-running, security research projects. Now in its 13th year, the report draws data from more than 80 organisations, including the Security Service and the FBI.
This year’s data show that cyber incidents are, mostly, still driven by financial motives. But the insider threat, and problems caused by accidental data loss have not gone away. And there are newer threats, including ransomware, that demand the attention of boards.
Security Insights’ Stephen Pritchard catches up with Verizon Business’ head of cybersecurity strategy, John Loveland, to discuss the 2020 report, and the lessons it holds for security strategy.
